Meet Chef Lawrence Page
Originally hailing from Brooklyn, Chef Lawrence Page's culinary journey has been remarkable. Driven by his dream of earning a Michelin star, Chef Page embarked on a mission to resurrect the former West Village landmark, ultimately relocating to Fort Greene. His vision to elevate soul food to new heights has been the driving force behind his approach to cooking.
As an Executive Chef and Restaurateur, Chef LP, as he's affectionately known, has captured the essence of his Brooklyn upbringing in every dish. Devoted to infusing tradition with innovation and passion, Chef Page brings a unique flair to classic soul food recipes.
Chef LP's ambitious quest was documented in the hit TV show "Hustle & Soul," which followed his journey to make Pink Tea Cup the first soul food restaurant to receive the coveted Michelin Star. Understanding the convoluted history of African-American cuisine, Chef LP is committed to developing a blueprint for elevating soul food to "fine dining" quality.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Chef Page shares, "Growing up in a southern household, I watched my mother cook full meals without any of the fancy tools that I saw chefs using, and that's when I fell in love. Everything was cooked with her heart, and that's what I carry to this day."
Chef LP’s soul food style is characterized by its unconventional approach. He incorporates new and fresh ingredients into traditional Southern dishes, offering a fresh perspective on classics like grandma's fried chicken.
With a keen focus on consistency, cleanliness, culture, atmosphere, and taste, Chef Page ensures that each dining experience at Pink Tea Cup Villa is exceptional.
Chef Lawrence Page's journey from a young boy in Brooklyn, learning to cook from his mother to owning his bakery at age 19, is a testament to his passion and dedication to the culinary arts. He inspires and innovates today, leaving a lasting impression on soul food cuisine.
